Goat Triplets- a work in progress

Untitled
11" x  14"
Colored Pencil
Work in progress
This piece is from a photo I took of my neighbor's goats. It was started last year but I was kept from working on it by the holidays; first Thanksgiving and then Christmas. Between having visitors and traveling to see family, there wasn't a lot of time or energy to be working on art! Now that things have calmed down and my two small pieces for an upcoming show are finished, I can put my full attention back on this piece. It will probably need dusting!

This neat old farm house was outside of Las Vegas, New Mexico on the way to a cabin where we visit often.  Loved the bright blue sky that day and the shadows on the building.

Textured Oil Painting of Sky and Trees by Texas artist Vernita Bridges Hoyt

AFTER THE STORM
palette knife oil painting on cradled wood panel 8x8 inches
copyright Vernita Bridges Hoyt 2015
Recent storms energized me. Last night I painted with a palette knife to show the changing of our skies after the storms passed over.  Sometimes a storm is just what I need to get me back into the studio.

You will find this painting with a link to purchase on my personal blog Texas Sauce Art Life Wednesday morning. You'll probably also find me rambling about storms and life in general.

I took quite a few photos of this calf. It has a lot of white spots, which makes it unique. This piece will be entered in the upcoming Mini-show in Ballinger, Texas, the end of April. There is a lot of work still to be done on this piece, including coming up with a good title!

Painting of an Old Border Collie who was Young at Heart

Border Collie "Young at Heart"
3.5x2.5 inch mini art card illustration

Looking back through some earlier paintings, I came across this watercolor illustration of the late border collie Brooke. She was a sweet dog and loyal to the end. She came to me at 8 years and left to cross the Rainbow Bridge at 14 years. We knew each other for only six years, but it seemed like we had always been together.

"Singing for Spring"

This piece is still a work in progress, but almost finished. It is from a photo I took of a very exuberant fellow, singing his heart out one morning. This is a common sight this time of year and wonderful to hear, too! Coming up the end of April, is the Mini-show in Ballinger, Texas, where this piece will be entered.

Transparent Watercolor of a white horse by Leada Wood, Texas Artist

This painting was begun in Joesph Fettings class a couple of Weeks ago and was finished in my studio Wednesday. Mr Fettings is a very informative teacher and covers all the whys of what you are painting. I thoroughly enjoyed the mini workshop and would have loved to had two more days. He said that this was his last trip to Texas but I sure hope not! He needs to continue teaching and traveling, we need him in Texas. We are so remote where I live there are not master painters around to teach. I usually end up driving 2 to 7 hours, one way, to a quality workshop with a master painter. Oh the things we do for art! I would like to thank the Signature art gallery in San Angelo for hosting the workshops. It was such a pleasant experience and fun! I will be anxiously awaiting their next workshop . Have a great weekend!

"Teddy Bear for Ava"
10" x 8"
Colored Pencil
When our second grandchild was born, I came up with this still-life for her. I used my own teddy bear and a set of blocks I bought, which the kids now play with when they visit. The box of Crayolas were bought special for this as well and I am sure they will be used again.
