Archie
Torn Paper Collage
This is one of friends, Archie Harris. He was in the Army during the Viet Nam War.  His vehicle ran over a land mine and his ankle was injured, and he got to come home.  I am so thankful for men and women who care enough to go to war if they are called.

I am so thankful that our children can run and play without worry...thanks to our Military men and women, over the years,   Fighting and preserving freedom for us. Let us always remember what has been given to allow us to be free. I am thankful that so many of my family members served, giving years of their lives to help make that happen.   A special thanks also to the families of these special people.   My Dad, Brother, Husband, Nephew, Uncles, cousins and friends served, as well as many in Ken's family. Let us remember on this Memorial Day as we stop to pay tribute to them.

This painting was done after a visit to NY in 2002.  The kids were romping and playing in Battery Park after the horrible attack the year before.   This is done in Yupo paper using watercolor and  several different tools and stamps to move it around and give it texture.  In real life you couldn't see the buildings. Just trees.
This painting won 3rd place in the Wyoming Watercolor Society, judged by Robert O'Brien.

This project is the third of four Dalmatian portraits I am currently painting. This image shows my initial sketch on a lightly toned canvas. The image was sketched with a brush loaded with thinned oil paint, burnt umber in color. I will show you more next week as the painting progresses.

I accept pet portrait commissions.

I love to paint birds and Ravens always catch my eye as they are not too plentiful in my part of the world. I take photos of old mailboxes wherever I can find them...the older and rustier the better. I decided to combine these two for a fun painting. Air Mail is transparent watercolor on archival paper, 14x22. It is now on exhibit at the Buddy Holly Museum in Lubbock, Texas, and is AVAILABLE.

When Keri walked T-Bone, her neighbor dog would poke his head out of the hole in the fence
and watch. He was soooo  cute! This is basically just a sketch with watercolor.

Winston the Bergamasco Sheep Dog

Here I go posting without a new painting to show you. I have locked myself in the studio until I have completed three pet portrait commissions.

WINSTON
Bergamasco Dog
oil
pet portrait commission 2009

In the meantime, here is an older pet portrait painted as a commissioned piece in 2009. This oil painting of Winston captured the essence of the breed. Somewhere under that mop of fur, Winston had open eyes. They were hard to find. Winston was a lovable soul and a fun dog to paint.
