Blue Tree in Yellow Sunshine by Vernita Hoyt

Tree Study in Blue and Yellow
watercolor on sketchbook paper

When I need a warm up to help me into a different medium, I can always count on a tree or few to do the job.

Over the weekend, I did several sketches in ink line with a watercolor wash. Primary colors call to me, this time blue and yellow. The beauty of a sketchbook is that I can paint whatever I want with whatever colors I want to use. Nothing has to be realistic.

I like the simplicity of this piece. With the right mat and frame …

After the warmup, I proceeded to a commissioned  artwork.

The Piglet Sketch Art by Vernita Hoyt

Piglet. Sketchbook Art.
Artist Vernita Bridges Hoyt

When my grandson was small he had a few Webkins. I think this little piglet was my favorite, so much so that I added Piglet to my sketchbook in 2008.

November: Lung Cancer Awareness Month

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. We all know people who have fought the battle with lung cancer. Many of us have lost loved ones to this war. The two sketches below are offered to benefit LungCancerAlliance. I will be listing these and more in the Etsy gallery shop soon. You will find a mini-gallery floating in the right hand side bar at Texas Sauce Art Life.
Postcard Sketches of Clematis Flower
November 30 need not be the end of Lung Cancer Awareness. As we move forward into December and the new year 2015, let's do what we can to help find better treatments and/or a cure for lung cancer.

As a child, I was reprimanded for daydreaming. Today my daydreams morph into paintings.
